Week 3 - The Space Between Who We Were and Who We’re Becoming

There are seasons in life when nothing feels settled.

We’re no longer who we once were, but we haven’t yet grown into what comes next. The old ways don’t quite fit, and the new ones haven’t taken shape.

This in-between space can feel uncomfortable.

It carries uncertainty, hesitation, and a quiet questioning we don’t always share with others. We move forward, but without clear markers to tell us we’re on the right path.

Yet this space is not empty.

It’s where reflection deepens.

Where values clarify.

Where we begin to loosen our grip on what no longer aligns.

Becoming doesn’t usually arrive with certainty.

It unfolds through small realizations—what we tolerate less, what we protect more carefully, what we’re no longer willing to abandon within ourselves.

We may grieve versions of ourselves that once felt familiar.

We may feel impatient with the pace of change.

We may wonder if we’re falling behind.

But growth doesn’t follow a straight line.

Sometimes the most meaningful shifts happen quietly, without witnesses, while we’re simply learning to listen more closely to our own inner voice.

If you’re standing in this space right now, unsure of what comes next, please know this:

You are not stalled.

You are not lost.

You are becoming.

And becoming is rarely loud or fast.

It’s thoughtful.

It’s layered.

It’s deeply human.

End-of-Reflection Block

This reflection echoes themes from my memoir, Gathering the Pieces, about loss, resilience, and the quiet strength that carries us forward.
